"My sculpture has been evolving for many years, and I feel it has evolved into the perfect mix of my skill and my aesthetic."
Alan Levine feels a joyful need to keep creating. It is the thing that gets him up in the morning and puts him to bed at night.
The medium of wood is what Levine loves to work with because he feels that what he can create is endless. Starting with some bold forms and adding colors, shapes, and design details creates intriguing and sometimes whimsical sculpture in a very unique style.
Levine received his BFA and MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. During his MFA, he was in charge of the wood shop, which gave him the facilities to learn all about woodworking. He has created both sculpture and furniture, sometimes mixing the two together. His sculptures have been influenced by Kandinsky, Moore, and Brancusi.
