A Complicated Passion: The Life & Work of Agnes Varda

Join us for the release of Carrie Rickey's forthcoming book, the first major biography of French filmmaker, photographer and installation artist Agnes Varda (1928-2019). Over the course of her 65-year career, Varda wrote and directed some of the most acclaimed films of her era. She helped to define the French New Wave and inspired a generation of filmmakers. Rickey will discuss the "complicated passions" that informed Varda's life and work and screen a Varda short film. A book signing will follow the program.
