Museum for Art in Wood hosts the Opening Night of “The Mashrabiya Project”

The Museum for Art in Wood hosts the opening night of The Mashrabiya Project, an international exhibition and project featuring art, educational and cultural events, a community making experience, and a publication showcasing the significance of the wood-turned mashrabiya in Islamic heritage and beyond. Curated by The Museum for Art in Wood’s Executive Director and Chief Curator Jennifer-Navva Milliken, this will be the first effort in the U.S. to examine this artisanal object and its prominence in Islamic and Egyptian craft while highlighting its greater cultural significance. During the opening, visitors can meet four of the international artists behind this multi-disciplinary exhibition and view their commissioned, never-before-seen works interpreting the wood-turned mashrabiya.
