Opening Reception and Panel for Edna Andrade: Space Dreams
Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition Edna Andrade: Space Dreams as part of the citywide re(FOCUS) 2024 festival, join us on Friday, February 2nd from 5pm to 7pm for an exclusive panel featuring curators Shelley Langdale and Mitra Abbaspour who will discuss the life and work of Edna Andrade (1917-2008). The conversation will explore the Philadelphia artist's multifaceted career, from her interests in fine arts, hand made crafts, and numerous public commissions, for which she drew influence from architecture, philosophy, mathematics, biology, psychology, and design.
Shelley Langdale is the Curator & Head of Modern Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and former Associate Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Mitra Abbaspour is the Houghton Curator and Head of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Harvard Art Museums in Cambridge, MA.
