Sail Into Spring at the Museum of the American Revolution
Sail into spring weekends at the Museum of the American Revolution on Saturdays and Sundays in April (1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 29-30) and explore life at sea during the Revolutionary War. Explore the lives of privateers, the Continental Navy, and other seafarers through in-gallery talks, hands-on crafts, walking tours, and more.
In our new special exhibit, Black Founders: The Forten Family of Philadelphia, learn more about the life and legacy of free Black Philadelphian, Revolutionary War privateer, and successful businessman James Forten and his descendants as they navigated the American Revolution and cross-racial relationships in Philadelphia to become leaders in the abolition movement in the lead-up to the Civil War and the women's suffrage movement. At a recreated sail loft workshop in the exhibit, learn about the tools of Forten’s sail-making business.
