Spooky Sundays at the Seaport
What’s October without a bit of spooky fun? We don’t know about you, but we don’t want to find out! That’s why we created our series, Spooky Sundays at the Seaport. Launching Sunday, October 2, and running through the 23rd, visitors can join education staff as they explore different themes at set times during the day. Come to one, come to all; we can’t wait to sea you!
Programs are included with general admission and are free for ISM members. The programs take place at 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, and 3 PM.
The themes are:
1. 10/2 – River Invaders: What really lurks beneath the water in the Paddle Penn’s Landing Boat Basin? Do you think it’s the Delaware River Monster? Or maybe just some fish? Join us during this lesson to learn about what actually lives in the basin and how the creatures got here!
2. 10/9 – Mermaids and Monsters: Are mermaids and krakens real or merely legend that have been created by people ages ago? We don’t know about you, but we want to learn more! Come visit ISM on October 9 and learn with us!
3. 10/16 – Sea Level Rise: Is sea level rise real? If it is, do you think it will reach your house or, say, the William Penn statue on the top of City Hall in Philadelphia? During this program, we explore all that and more.
4. 10/23 – Ghost Ships: Do you think ghost ships ever traveled along the Delaware River? If so, where did they come from? The North, the South, Europe? Come explore with other seafarers during this program!
