Axiom Contemporary is excited to announce the opening of its latest exhibition, SUPERBLOOM. Featuring the original paintings of three extraordinary artists - Guy Stanley Philoche, Originally Distinct, Cheo, Matt Higgins and Anthony Johnson - SUPERBLOOM is a celebration of color, creativity, and community.
Guy Stanley Philoche is a Haitian-born artist whose vibrant paintings celebrate the beauty of the human form, while Originally Distinct, a Philadelphia-based artist, infuses street art influences into his work to explore issues of identity and social justice. Cheo's playful, graffiti-inspired pieces showcase his love of color and texture. Anthony Johnson's bold, dynamic works draw on the rich legacy of African American art to create powerful messages of hope and resilience.
Each of the artists featured in SUPERBLOOM has created a stunning collection of works that explores the theme of flowers in their own unique way. From Philoche's lush, vibrant canvases to Originally Distinct's bold, street-inspired paintings and Johnson's powerful, expressive works, the exhibition offers a diverse range of perspectives on this timeless subject.
"This exhibition is a celebration of the power of art to bring people together," says gallery director Mark Matkevich. "The artists have each created a collection of works that celebrates the beauty and diversity of flowers, and we're thrilled to share their vision with the community."
SUPERBLOOM is a community garden of art, showcasing the rich diversity of Philadelphia's cultural landscape. The exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art, social justice, and the power of community.
Proceeds from the show will go to support SoilGeneration, a non-profit that empowers local black and brown farmers.
SUPERBLOOM will be on display from June 9th to July 14th, 2023, at Axiom Contemporary, located at 30 S. 2nd St., Philadelphia.
